I think every year I think about how crazy time flies. I can remember where I was 365 days ago and almost every day in between. There's a quote I've been seeing frequently the last few months. About how you can be in a totally different place/situation at the end of the year than you were at the start of the year. I can raise both of my hands to that. The New Year came around so fast I didn't even take time to think of resolutions before the 1st. I did take some time and decided to keep my list short and sweet this year.
What are your New Year Resolutions for 2018?
"HOV, H-to-the-O-V, I use to move..." yea I'll stop there. lol I'm assuming most of you could hear Jay-Z rapping that as you read it. If so, my job is done! Well, not before I do as the title of the post says.
(Introduction video at the end of this post)
I've taken some time away from the blogging world, which even then I was doing my best to become a better writer and honestly, just be more consistent. I had my Art blog The Journey To My Dreams, over at Blogspot. Which I'm still deciding if it is something I should continue and add to my website, or just let my Instagram be my art blog.
The last blog I was apart of, was with one of my best friends, Ayesha Ophelia, as part of The Girlfriend Manifesto. Check out the website and blog HERE and be sure to follow on your favorite or all social media platforms. From what I can recall, I was a fairly good writer in school. High school and college; my English grades showed and proved that. My first major in college was Broadcast Journalism, so I obviously had confidence in my writing abilities. Unfortunately for myself, that changed as an adult. My low confidence in my writing abilities, along with other stresses I was having in 2016 resulted in me not contributing as I should have to TGM. It wasn't fair for my friend to have a partner that wasn't contributing. Plus, I didn't want it to interfere or ruin a friendship of almost two decades. Thankfully we were both on the same page and I'm still apart of the TGM community and have nothing but love for each other and continue to support each other's endeavors.
I still wanted to blog and finally start vlogging (I've been playing with vlogging thoughts since my move to NYC, 3 years ago) and took some time to figure out what would work best for me, when the right time presented itself. I had a health hiccup this year, which by the end definitely inspired me to share my journey, experiences, things I've learned and continuing to learn, as well as things I'll be having to change in my life. To be a source of information for the next person. I've been sitting on the below video for a few weeks now lol, had it marked 'private' on YouTube. I had the urge to start vlogging about 2 weeks before that. On December 1st I finally hit the Publish button, today I am finally adding it to my blog and it will be live on my website. This post was a little longer that I wanted it to be. My video is a little introduction to myself and what my blog/vlog will be provide. Have a great week! xo
